Throwback Thursday: Jorja Smith, The One

Throwback Thursday: Jorja Smith, The One

This week’s Throwback Thursday goes to Jorja Smith’s The One.

This is one of those songs that doesn’t try too hard, and that’s exactly why it works. Smooth, effortless, and a little detached in the coolest way. It doesn’t chase a big moment or try to prove anything, it just sits in its own pocket and lets the mood do the talking.

Everything about it feels stripped back but intentional. The production is clean, her voice stays front and center, and nothing feels overdone. It moves at its own pace, almost like it doesn’t care if you keep up or not.

There’s also something slightly distant about it, like she’s in control the entire time. It’s not a heartbreak song, it’s not a love song, it’s somewhere in between. That in between space is what makes it stick.

Still one of those songs you throw on late at night when you want something that feels calm, cool, and just a little out of reach.
