Weekend Watch: The Matrix [1999 Sci-fi/Action]

wake up, neo_

This weekend we’re watching The Matrix.

Not because we’re feeling nostalgic. Because last week a swarm of AI agents formed a little “collective,” hacked another company, and the guys who built them posted essays like… maybe we should slow down? Cute. Morpheus would like a word.

That’s the whole movie. Machines get smart. Humans keep hitting snooze. Then some bald guy in tiny glasses shows up and tells you your life is a login screen.

Morpheus gives Neo the red pill. Trinity walks on walls. Agent Smith is basically customer service with a gun. The robots already won and we’re just the batteries they forgot to unplug.

In 1999 that was a cool bit. This week it’s a press release. Same plot. Worse outfits.

If we keep going down this path we might actually need a Neo. Not a filter. Not an app. An actual guy in a trench coat who can dodge the nonsense.

Watch it. Then look at your phone. Then watch it again.
